Her previous experience includes journalistic and editorial positions in daily newspapers and periodicals. Barbara has been involved in numerous trainings and workshops about investigative journalism.

Barbara researched the phenomenon of mixed marriages in Vukovar, Croatia, and Mostar, Bosnia-Herzegovina, since those cities were scenes of multi-ethnic coexistence in the former Yugoslavia, but now have seen little success in achieving even elementary standards of functional coexistence. Her story took her to Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and The Netherlands.

Barbara's research was supervised by Srecko Latal, an editor from Bosnia and Herzegovina and BIRN associate.
