Lavdim Hamidi takes a Masters programme in International Economic Relations
Lavdim Hamidi, winner of the first prize in the 2008 Balkan Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence used his €8.000 award for professional development to take a Masters Degree in International Economic Relations at the South Eastern European University in Macedonia.

Lavdim was awarded first prize for his article Power Games Delay Escape from Poverty by the international jury, who commended the quality of his reporting and investigative work in his story about mismanagement in Kosovo’s energy sector. In his article, Lavdim revealed the corrupt practices that were damaging the Kosovo economy.

“As a journalist covering the economy for more than seven years, I think that the Masters Degree will help me to learn more about the international economy from the unique perspective of the Balkan countries as they strive for membership of the European Union”, said Ladim.

Ladim started his Masters programme at the end of 2009, and although it is sometimes hard to find the balance between his studies and his job as editor of the daily newspaper Zeri, he hopes that after two years of study he will have better understanding of international economic relations and the business climate.
