Robert Bosch Stiftung
Established in 1964, the Robert Bosch Stiftung GmbH is one of the major German foundations associated with a private company. It represents the philanthropic and social endeavours of founder Robert Bosch (1861 - 1942) and fulfils his legacy in a contemporary manner. The Robert Bosch Stiftung works predominantly in the fields of International Relations, Health and Education.

ERSTE Foundation
ERSTE Foundation is active in the Central and South Eastern European region. Established in 2003, the Foundation began its work two years later by developing three programmes: Social Affairs, Culture and Europe. As the legal successor to the 190 year old “Erste oesterreichische Spar-Casse”, the first Austrian savings bank, ERSTE Foundation is the major shareholder of Erste Group and therefore one of the largest institutions of this kind in Europe. Its two principles are based on its historical roots: ERSTE Foundation safeguards the future of Erste Group as an independent company and reinvests its profits in activities that promote the common good.

BIRN
BIRN is a network of non-governmental organisations working with Balkan journalists to produce stimulating reports on a variety of regional issues. Its member organisations throughout the region run a range of training and public debate projects to enhance the capacity and impact of analytical and investigative journalism. Together, they produce Balkan Insight, the leading publication covering the region’s path to Europe.

What is the Fellowship?
Journalists in the Balkans must now report on complex reform issues with regional and European dimensions. The fellowship provides editorial guidance, training and adequate funding to do so.

Selection Committee
The Selection Committee is comprised of seven prominent media figures from the Balkans and Europe. Each year, committee members read, evaluate and select story proposals for the fellowship.
